Self-taught entrepreneur, Kevin Cole, 28, has faced many challenges to be where he is at now.

Prairie View A&M University alumnus with a bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and a master's in Safety Health and Environmental Management has his own embroidery business named 'Kevin'z World'.
Cole started his business in September 2019 with the mindset of making some money after being jobless for 4 months after being put out of his engineering job in McAllen, Texas. Cole moved back to Sugar Land, Texas to live with his mother as he searched for a new job so he could provide for his two daughters and take care of his needs. In the meantime, Cole had a conversation with his brother who is a film director in Hollywood, who asked him what his passion was.
"I am creative. I love creating stuff, I love sports," said Cole.
Cole is the founder of 'Greek Olympiks' which is a sports competition between fraternities and sororities that have come together every summer for the past 4 years. Teams donate money which goes to an African- American non-profit organization. Also, Cole is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated; he had made customized shirts for his team and that's when it all began. He states it all came into play whenever he was asked by other greeks who made their shirts because they wanted to purchase some in the future.
After the Greek Olympiks, Cole was motivated and determined to start his business up. He knew nothing about embroidery, so where is the best place to learn something? Youtube, so he watched videos and taught himself everything he needed to know. Cole had to learn how to use Photoshop so he could make mock-ups of items to present to people. Once he mastered Photoshop and the other types of embroidery, he was unstoppable.
"I always said yes, even if I knew nothing, I am a finesser. The more I researched the more I sold," said Cole.
Cole always found a way to get things done even if it meant taking risks and investing in himself. Despite that everything was expensive, he still purchased machines, letters, shirts, hats, anything he needed to produce a product for his clients.
"It's all about quality," states Cole.
Furthermore, he mentions that he looks up to Billy McFarland from 'Fyre Festival Documentary' because they are both the same age with the same vision, but McFarland had no knowledge of how to finesse the game, unlike himself. McFarland is an American convicted fraudster who co-founded the ill-fated Fyre Festival.
"I actually deliver, he did not," stated Cole.
Ultimately, Cole expresses the importance of doing research. Figuring out what makes oneself happy, and to not do everything. Being able to find out what catches one's interest and mastering it; to take risks and investing in oneself because no-one else will do it.
Anything is possible whenever a person puts their mind to it. Overcoming challenges and understanding that it is always a process, but never permanent is important.

Cole was jobless for 4 months and now is a Senior Industrial Hygienist with his own embroidery business; honing his craft and making his daughters and clients happy. The key is to never give up when times get hard; there are always blessings and success on the way.
